  1. My guess is NY. New York Preservation Archive Project. And the masque representing Broadway.

  2. I think it has ties to New England west virginia or New England where the Portuguese landed as the daffodils on the clock originally came from Spain, columbas is not far from New England and the explorer christopher columbas came from Spain but was born in Italy hence the mask where opera was from as well as the clock itself could have originated from wellburg again not to far from New England west virginia and preservation could mean just that the new england preservation society for protecting artifacts but the date 1929 could refer to the great depression along with the figure of the 'falling' man on the clock face..

  3. The key image is the vase, hand, and mirror. That will tell you where to start. My opinion is the key image is Little Bo Peep and the mirror is reflecting the face of Humpty Dumpty. The hands thumbnail is cloven like a sheep as an extra clue. Little Bo Peep's Shepherd hook is represented by the mirror.

    1. It could be turquoise in the handle/ half moon looking part at the top of the clock. Turquoise is the december birthstone. I see angels on the top corners of the clock and the clock seems to be at 12.

  6. Could the gem be turquoise (half circle) above the 12?

  7. The Gem is opal I believe.
    Definitely NEW ORLEANS
Very faint "Blue Dog painting" above and to the right of the Catahoula dog at the bottom right. Catahoula is the state dog, blue dog painting very New Orleans, Mask etc.

  8. This is New Orleans!
New Orleans was a film from 1929.
New Orleans is located on longitude degree 90
New Orleans holds a legend of a werewolf known as Rougarou of the Bayou, represented by the werewolf looking hand, that according to legend only appears during the full moon.

  9. On the clock face you can see 19 29 90 in the corners. On the periodic table they make an anagram of Kutch which is in Colorado.

  10. Do the dark shadows on the eyes in the face read 09? This would make the clock face read 19 09 29 & 90

  12. It's definitely New Orleans. Twain loved Mardi Gras and actually has well known quotes about Mardi Gras. Lots of the clues are specifically new orleans. Preservation Hall, 1929, mmardi gras mask, the cathedral "cross" in the phrase.

  13. Has anyone checked a peter pan reference? The flying boy, moon and stars etc give it a very peter pan vibe, combined with a theater mask?

  14. It is definitely not New Orleans. This painting is said to be “quite unique” from the other twelve. Absolutely no one ever talks about the obvious reference within the painting?!?
    I find that humorous…
